Can you believe Christmas is just a few days away? Amazing. Finally wrapped up my shopping and I’m really looking forward to spending some quality time with my family. It’s gonna be sweet. Next week we’re not going to post. Consider it our holiday stand-down. We’ll be back the following week to catch back up with everyone. Hopefully we’ll make some progress with our site theme redesign. Once we do make the change, I’m planning on sharing some of the lessons we are yet to learn in a couple posts. Since the next time we post it may be 2013, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to rewind and take a look back at some of our favorite posts and projects from 2012.
2012 Blog Year in Review
JANUARY: The first month of 2012 had us doing some major projects which were timed to be completed before our daughter’s first birthday party. We installed hardwood floors in our living room and family room and also had our vestibule painted.
FEBRUARY: Our daughter’s first birthday party was in February. Lisa is already planning her second. Way back in February we did a couple posts on the party prep, like the birthday pennant banner and the pink cake pops. We also started our terribly long series on sliding drawers for our kitchen cabinets.
MARCH: This month was almost all sliding drawer posts. It would be a couple more months until we were finished with it. If you recall, the longest part was trying to get matching hardware for under $50 a drawer. Oy.
APRIL: This may have been our busiest month in 2012. We got started with the dining room wainscoting and built a workbench. We also showed the concrete countertops I made a few years back for my mom’s place.
MAY: May was a LOT of wainscoting work. We installed the new outlet in the dining room to accommodate the buffet lights, ripped out the old chair rail molding and installed the wainscoting frame on the long wall.
JUNE: We were able to finish the frame portion of the wainscoting in the early summer and started prepping for the MDF center panels by building a router table. Lisa also added dressed up some artwork for our powder room by painting a frame.
JULY: Another busy summer month… we helped our neighbors hide their TV cables and mount their flat screen. We visited a church picnic and primed the wainscoting. Any month that involves eating potato pancakes is OK in my book.
SEPTEMBER: With Fall coming, we started getting the Jeep ready to be sold by cleaning up the headlights and doing some maintenance on the brakes. Lisa also did some simple Fall touches around the house. We also threw on some shutters at my mom’s place.
OCTOBER: Right before we sold our Jeep, we made a repair to a rusty body panel. We also got started on our garage shoe organizer.
NOVEMBER: Although we didn’t have as many posts in November as we normally do, we still managed to knock out a few projects. We got rid of some unsightly shower mold, finished the garage shoe rack and painted our hall bathroom.
DECEMBER: Even though we’re still in December, I think we’re pretty much done with the projects until into January. Although, there are a few things I may try to sneak in over break. This past month hasn’t been too bad. We replaced our sump pump, decorated for Christmas and baked some Italian Christmas cookies.
We hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!! See you in 2013!
